Folsom City Councilmember Kerri M. Howell launches Campaign for Sacramento County Supervisor, District 4

Kerri HowellFolsom, CA – Today, longtime Folsom City Councilmember Kerri M. Howell launched her campaign for Sacramento County Supervisor, District 4.

“I am proud of the work I have done over the last two decades serving my community as a public official, both as a Planning Commissioner and more than 17-years as a Folsom City Councilmember,” said Ms. Howell.

“During my tenure, the City of Folsom has grown in a thoughtful and responsible manner — maintaining a thriving business community and enjoying the lowest unemployment in the region.  All while being recognized nationally as one of the safest cities in California.

“I believe fiscal responsibility is the foundation of effective leadership.  While other cities faltered during the great recession, I am proud that the City of Folsom has weathered this financial storm with responsible budgeting, including increased reserves.

“I look forward to bringing this leadership and vision to the Sacramento Board of Supervisors, where I can continue to serve the public and be a strong voice for our region.”

Ms. Howell has received the endorsement of the majority of the Folsom City Council, including Mayor Andy Morin, Vice Mayor Steve Miklos, and Councilmember Jeff Starsky.

“I am proud to endorse Kerri Howell, the most qualified candidate to become our next Sacramento County Supervisor,” said Folsom Vice Mayor Steve Miklos.  “With more than two decades of experience serving our community, she has a proven record of fiscal leadership and supporting economic growth.  Kerri Howell will protect and grow the quality of life for the Sacramento region.  She has my full support.”

Ms. Howell has also served more than 17-years on the Folsom City Council, including as mayor in 2012 and 2014 and as vice mayor in 2002 and 2006.

With more than 20 years in public service, Ms. Howell has served the people of Sacramento in a wide variety of elected and appointed positions, including as Chair and Vice Chair of the Sacramento Transportation Authority, Chair of the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District, Chair of the Sacramento Area Sewer District, Chair of the Sacramento Groundwater Authority, as well as Planning Commissioner for the City of Folsom from 1994 to 1998.

Kerri Howell has a history of service with community non-profit organizations, serving on the Boards of Folsom Lake College Foundation, the Sutter Street Theater, and the Murer House Foundation which brings education and awareness about Folsom’s Italian Heritage.

Kerri Howell is a successful civil and corrosion engineer and small business owner.  With more than 35-years experience in the industry, she opened her own civil and corrosion engineering consulting business in Folsom in 1998 which she continues to run today.

Ms. Howell is running for the Sacramento Board of Supervisors, District 4.  This is an open seat created when current Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan announced that she will not be seeking re-election to the Board of Supervisors in 2016 for the term starting January, 2017.  District 4 includes the communities of Antelope, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Orangevale, Rancho Murieta and Rio Linda.
