RIO LINDA, CA — One of the most vibrant and culturally significant traditions in the Sacramento region is returning to our streets. On Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Shri Guru Ravidass Temple will host the 26th Annual Nagar Kirtan Sikh Parade, bringing thousands of visitors from across the country to the heart of Rio Linda.
This year marks a momentous milestone as the community celebrates the 649th Birth Anniversary of Satguru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, a revered spiritual teacher whose message of equality and human rights continues to resonate globally.
A Tradition of Unity and Hospitality
For over two decades, the Sikh community in Rio Linda has welcomed neighbors with open arms. Local residents who have attended past parades know that the event is more than just a procession; it is a masterclass in Langar, the Sikh tradition of providing free communal meals.

In years past, the route along 16th Street has been lined with volunteers offering everything from traditional Indian sweets and spicy chai to full vegetarian meals—all free of charge to any passerby, regardless of their background. It is an excellent way for families to spend the day, experience new flavors, and learn about the rich heritage of our Sikh neighbors.
