Placer County Sheriff Makes Drug Arrest

Earlier this week, PCSO deputies arrested a North Highlands man on drug charges after a high-speed pursuit.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop near Auburn on a car with an expired registration, but with a current, fraudulent sticker. Driver Jack Noriega, 34, of North Highlands and passenger Natasha Wagner, 25, of Grass Valley, claimed they didn’t have identification. Once a second deputy arrived on scene, Noriega sped off going more than 65 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Deputies pursued Noriega on Dry Creek Road and lost sight of the vehicle. Once they rounded a corner, deputies saw skid marks and Noriega’s car flipped over. Noriega was crawling out of the passenger side and attempting to pull Wagner out of the car. While being held at gunpoint, Noriega sat down and kicked a loaded gun across the road. Deputies were able to take him into custody and he was booked at the Auburn Jail. Wagner was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries from the crash.

Noriega had a Nevada County felony warrant for methamphetamine sales. A search of his car revealed three pounds of marijuana, 45 narcotic pills, a digital scale, Taser, brass knuckles with a hidden switch blade, butterfly knife, police scanner, four cell phones, laptop, camera, and multiple empty zip lock baggies.

The firearm was registered to a Rio Linda resident.

Noriega was booked for his warrant, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of drugs while armed, felon in possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, recklessly evading a peace officer, possession of metal knuckles, felon in possession of a stun gun, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation, and possession of drugs for sale. He is ineligible for bail. Wagner had a misdemeanor warrant out of Placer County for drug paraphernalia and will face charges in court at a later date.
