Rio Linda Boulevard to CLOSE for Four Months July 2 to October 26

Rio Linda Boulevard to CLOSE for Four Months July 2 to October 26

Marysville Boulevard at Claire Avenue to Marysville Boulevard near 4th Street

The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) is moving forward with construction of the Rio Linda Boulevard Bridge Replacement Project over North Channel Dry Creek near Crystal Road.

The closure will start on Monday, July 2 and is expect to finish October 26.

The three-month long project (Editors note: July 2 through October 26 is nearly FOUR months) will replace an existing bridge with a two-span reinforced concrete bridge. The new bridge will be wider to accommodate a space for future Class 2 bike lanes.

The construction work will require complete closure of Rio Linda Boulevard from Marysville Boulevard at Claire Avenue to Marysville Boulevard near 4th Street.

Detours will be set up for traffic with local access still available for property owners and residents within the closure area. Drivers normally heading north on the bridge will be sent south on Marysville Boulevard to Dry Creek Road then over to Elkhorn Boulevard and back onto Rio Linda Boulevard.

Drivers normally heading south will go in the opposite direction.

###

Editor’s note: I will take this opportunity to note that if East Levee Road was opened at Elkhorn Blvd, or if National Drive had been completed from Del Paso Road to Elkhorn Blvd as was intended, drivers travelling to the Norwood and Northgate areas would not have to travel east to Dry Creek Road or West to Natomas Road.

This includes the Norwood and Northgate Interstate 80 freeway access.

This detour pushes the daily traffic from Rio Linda Blvd to Dry Creek Road, which will pass next to Rio Linda High School and Dry Creek Elementary.

For three months of the school year.

Can we now have a serious discussion about reopening East Levee Road?
