TRUSD to Distribute Backpacks to Homeless Children

Twin Rivers Union School District

Twin Rivers USD is partnering with Feed The Children, a national charitable organization, to provide backpacks and supplies for Sacramento area students experiencing homelessness. The distribution on Feb. 26 includes almost 2,000 backpacks filled with a variety of items including school supplies, essentials (items such as toothpaste, deodorant and body wash) and children’s books.

Twelve local school districts and several charter school organizations will pick up backpacks and ensure that they reach the hands of students that are either homeless or in transitional housing situations.

When: 8 a.m. – Noon on Tuesday, Feb. 26

Where: Twin Rivers USD Warehouse, 3222 Winona Way, North Highlands, CA 95660

Through a partnership with SchoolKidz, a business unit of Staples® Inc., Feed The Children plans to distribute 60,000 backpacks nationwide for the 2012-2013 school year.
