Ah yes, the bye week. A chance to regroup, recharge, refocus, renovate, and this year, rejoice.
Your State Champion Rio Linda Knights football team are taking it easy this week before jumping back into the fray on September 27th when they travel to the far away and exotic Foothill Farms to face Foothill high school.
(3-0 Foothill face the 0-3 Valley Vikings at home tonight, game time is 7:30pm.)
After dropping the week one game to Center, the Knights have clicked off a three game winning streak taking their record to 3-1. The backfield dynamic duo of Cameron Skattebo and Abraham Banks have piled up over 1200 rushing yards between them, and Kyle Deloney-Spencer leads the team in receiving, catching nine passes for 182 yards.
The defense has come around, with linebacker Ben Pau and defensive back Johnny Serrano sharing the tackling lead with 30 each.
Over the last two weeks, the Knights have beaten the struggling Cordova Lancers 55-0 at home, and last week traveled to Roseville to carve out an exciting overtime win against the Tigers, 28-21.
Next weeks game facing Foothill is a warmup before Foothill Valley League play begins at our Homecoming game versus Ponderosa on October 4th.
While Foothill has an impressive undefeated 3-0 record, the teams they have defeated have a combined record of 0-10.

In fact, Foothill faces the Valley Vikings tonight, another struggling 0-3 team.
When the Knights travel to Foothill on October 4th, it will be the first team Foothill faces this year who has a win.
But this team doesn’t pay attention to that. This is a hard working team. This is the ’34 Chicago Bears who grind out yardage on offence and punish opposing teams on defense. This is Woody Hayes’ “3 yards and a cloud of dust” team.
The Knights will show up at Foothill High School a week from tonight, lunchpails in hand, ready to do some work.
