Twin Rivers Unified Statement on COVID-19

Twin Rivers Union School District

On March 7th, Twin Rivers Unified School District Superintendant Steve Martinez issued a Statement regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus and TRUSD schools.

The statement indicates that (as of now) there have been no diagnosed cases of novel coronavirus within any of the local school districts, staff or students, and that TRUSD will be taking advice from the Sacramento County Office of Education and the Sacramento County Public Health Department.

To The Twin Rivers Unified School District Community,

I want to provide you with an update on the steps that we are taking to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19), and to confirm that at this time we have no diagnosed cases reported in the Twin Rivers USD. Schools will be open on Monday, March 9, and all services shall remain uninterrupted.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff are always our highest priority. Therefore, I have been monitoring closely the advice being provided to school districts from the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) and the Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) Department.

These agencies have been working closely together since the virus appeared, and today (March 7) they reassured local school districts and the public that, to date, there are no diagnosed cases of novel coronavirus involving students or school staff in Sacramento County.

If diagnosed cases are discovered associated with schools, the public health department will advise what appropriate steps need to be taken, up to and including school closures
or quarantines.

I can assure you that if these health professionals advised us to close a campus, we would heed their advice and follow their direction. Given that we have no confirmed cases, I feel it is best to keep our schools open so that the students’ learning and lives are not disrupted.

Thank you for your kind attention to this message. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend.

Respectfully,
Steve Martinez, Ed.D.
Superintendent, Twin Rivers Unified
