Michael Womack of North Highlands could serve life in prison after he was found guilty this week of murdering his foster brother with a samurai-style sword.
On September 20, 2018, Womack had an altercation with the victim, Greg Prescott, at the house where they both lived. Prescott ran from the home while Womack gave chase with the weapon and stabbed him multiple times, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Prescott later died from his injuries at the hospital.
The initial police report indicates that the two are foster brothers.
Womack was convicted Monday of second-degree murder. The jury also found him guilty of using a weapon to carry out the killing. This charge carries a maximum sentence of 16 years to life. Womack will be sentenced on December 17.
