Rio Linda, CA – Calling all young artists! The statewide Clean California program is looking for creative K-12 students in Rio Linda to show how litter impacts our own community. You could win a $500 gift card!

Until Monday, March 24th, students can submit either a 30-second video or an 8.5″ x 14″ (or smaller) handmade poster. Show us how “Just One Piece of Litter Can Ruin [fill in the blank]” in Rio Linda. Think about a water bottle by Dry Creek, or a fast-food wrapper in our local parks. Get creative and show us what matters to you!

“We want to see Rio Linda students take pride in our town. This contest is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your talent and help keep Rio Linda beautiful.”

Rio Linda Neighborhood Association Chair and TRUSD Trustee Stacey Bastian.

Students in grades 3-12 will also need to submit a short summary (500 words or less) about their project, including ideas for reducing litter right here in Rio Linda and at their school.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Who: K-12 students in Rio Linda (public, private, charter, or homeschool)
  • What: Create a 30-second video or 8.5″ x 14″ poster about litter in Rio Linda.
  • When: Submissions due Monday, March 24th.
  • Prize: $500 gift card for each grade group winner (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12).
  • How: Visit CleanCA.com/Education for rules and entry details. Parental permission required.

Why is this important?

The Clean California initiative is a statewide effort to clean up our communities. Since 2021, they’ve removed tons of trash and organized clean-up events. By participating, you’re helping keep Rio Linda clean and safe.

Let’s work together to keep Rio Linda beautiful!
