In Loving Memory of RLHS Teacher Robert “Bob” Erickson

Born in Alberta, Canada – June 8, 1944 | Passed Away – March 26, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an incredible man, Robert “Bob” Erickson, who left this world peacefully on March 26, 2025, surrounded by the love he so generously gave throughout his life.

Born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, on June 8, 1944, to Stanley Erickson and Joyce Milner, Bob carried with him the warmth and strength of his roots wherever he went. A lifelong lover of travel and the great outdoors, he saw the world not just as a map to explore, but as a classroom filled with wonder and lessons waiting to be discovered. Whether it was the quiet serenity of the mountains and nearby lakes, the thrill of the open road, the intricate detail in the architecture overseas, or the awe and beauty in the depths of a Caribbean ocean, Bob found joy in every corner he traveled and shared that joy with family and friends lucky enough to journey beside him.

He was a teacher in every sense of the word—not just by profession or title, teaching shop at Rio Linda High School for 32 years, but by the way he lived his life. With an open heart and a generous spirit, Bob taught others through his actions: how to be kind without expecting anything in return, how to give selflessly, and how to find happiness not in possessions, but in the moments we share and the lives we touch.

His family was the center of his universe, and his love for them was endless. He is survived by his soul mate, Donna, his proudest joy and partner in every adventure. He was a devoted father to Chad Erickson (spouse Dena) and Stephanie Coday (spouse Martin), guiding them with patience, genuine experiences, and unconditional love. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren (Robert Erickson, Connor Coday, Trevor Erickson, and Cooper Coday), who brought him boundless happiness and who will carry forward the stories, laughter, and values he so lovingly passed down. He is also survived by his sister Joan Foote (spouse Carl Foote), and sister-in-law Judy Erickson.

To know Bob was to be reminded that the world is still full of good people. His kindness, his jokes, his smile, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and valued are gifts that will never fade. He lived a life rich in love, purpose, and creativity —and those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever feel touched by the way he made them feel.

As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing he has earned the wings he always wanted. And though we will miss him more than words can say, we will honor his life by living with the same generosity, curiosity, and love that he gave so freely to us.

Rest easy, Bob, Buddy, dad, grandpa, Runner, Bobbert, Robert, Mr. Erickson. You were truly one of a kind.
