The calendar has flipped to an action-packed week for the Rio Linda Knights, running from October 20th to the 24th. With crucial league play continuing and two highly anticipated Senior Nights on the schedule, it’s a time to rally and honor our departing athletes!
Monday, October 20th: Road Warriors
The week starts with the Girls Golf squad taking on the Golden Empire League (GEL) in the second major GEL Tournament of the season. This all-day event will be pivotal as the Knights vie for top placements against their strongest league competitors and look to solidify their CIF postseason aspirations.
Also on Monday, the Varsity Flag Football team heads on the road to battle the Natomas Nighthawks in a 6 p.m. matchup. Every league win counts as the season winds down, so expect the Lady Knights to be focused on securing a victory away from home.
Tuesday, October 21st: Volleyball Senior Night
Get ready for an electrifying night in the gym! Girls Volleyball hosts Destiny Christian, with the Varsity match hitting the court at 6:30 p.m. This will be the emotional Senior Night for the volleyball program, an evening where the team will honor the commitment and spirit of their graduating players. The Frosh game will precede the ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at Mesa Verde—come out early to support both squads!
Wednesday, October 22nd: Flag Football Honors & Water Polo Clashes
Wednesday is a doubleheader of home action!
- Cross Country will have a mid-week league meet at Sutter, starting at 1:30 p.m. Our runners continue to challenge themselves on different courses as they build endurance for the final postseason meets.
- The Water Polo teams dive into the pool at home against El Camino. The Girls start at 4 p.m., followed by the Boys at 5 p.m. These matches are always intense league battles, promising some fast-paced action.
- The Flag Football program hosts Woodland for their Senior Night, with the JV game at 5 p.m. and Varsity at 6 p.m. Come fill the stands and make some noise for our incredible senior flag football players as they compete under the lights for one of their final home games!
Friday, October 24th: Friday Night Football
The week culminates with Knights Football traveling to face the Woodland Wolves. The JV team kicks off the action at 5 p.m., with the Varsity team taking the field at 7 p.m. in this crucial Golden Empire League contest. The Knights, currently in the thick of the GEL standings, will be looking for a statement win against their league foe to bolster their resume as the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs draw near. Don’t miss this pivotal road game!
