A Holiday Message from Metro Fire Chief Adam House: Thanks, Safety, and Community Strength

As the air turns crisp and the holiday lights begin to twinkle, Metro Fire Chief Adam A. House shared a message of deep appreciation, vital safety advice, and exciting community initiatives for the Rio Linda Online readers.

A Note of Thanks

Chief House began by expressing his deep appreciation to the community Metro Fire proudly serves. “Your trust, support, and partnership make it all possible,” he stated, emphasizing the crucial role the residents play in the department’s success. This season of family, reflection, and thanks is a time to acknowledge the strong bond between first responders and the people they protect.

Prioritize Kitchen Safety

The Chief then turned his attention to a common holiday hazard: cooking fires.

“Cooking fires are common during this festive period, often due to leaving food unattended,” the Chief cautioned.

He urged everyone to stay attentive while cooking and to use all kitchen equipment safely. Readers were directed to the rest of the newsletter for a comprehensive list of holiday safety tips, reminding the community that a safe celebration is a happy celebration.

Building Momentum: New Medics and Citizen Responders

Highlighting the department’s growth, Chief House proudly recognized 12 recent graduates of the Metro Medic program. These new medics are already on the front lines, “responding to calls and making an impact in our community.”

Building on this success, the department is launching a groundbreaking initiative: the Citizen Responder Project. This program is designed to empower community members with the necessary skills and confidence to take life-saving action during those critical moments before first responders can arrive. “Together, we will save more lives!” the Chief proclaimed, inviting the community to watch the Fox40 segment and read more about the project detailed elsewhere in the issue.

The Power of Community Outreach

Finally, Chief House encouraged residents to embrace the true spirit of the season by giving back to the community.

  • Engaging in community outreach strengthens neighborhood bonds and fosters a sense of togetherness.
  • He suggested participating in local food drives, volunteer opportunities, or charitable events to support those in need.

“By coming together to lend a helping hand, we can spread joy and make a meaningful impact on the lives of others,” he said. Readers can find a list of holiday food distribution locations in the Community Partner section.

Chief House concluded his message with warm wishes: “Wishing each of you a joyful and safe winter season ahead! Let’s celebrate the spirit of the season while ensuring that our homes and loved ones are safe and healthy.”
