Rio Linda residents and commuters, take note! This Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Shri Guru Ravidass Temple will be hosting its 26th Annual Nagar Kirtan (Sikh Parade). With thousands of attendees expected, the 16th Street corridor and surrounding areas will see significant activity.
Whether you are planning to join the celebration or just need to get across town, here is everything you need to know to navigate the day smoothly.

🕒 The Schedule
- Event Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Road Closure Window: Rolling closures and delays are expected between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
🗺️ The Parade Route
The parade will follow a loop starting and ending at the Temple. If your Sunday travel involves these streets, you’ll want to find an alternate route:
- START: Shri Guru Ravidass Temple (6221 16th Street)
- South on 16th Street
- Right (West) on E Street
- Right (North) onto Dry Creek Road
- Right (East) onto Elkhorn Boulevard
- FINISH: Returns to the Temple via 16th Street

🚗 Travel & Parking Tips
- Expect Delays: Traffic will be heavy along the 16th Street corridor. Please allow extra travel time.
- Parking: Space near the Temple is extremely limited and hits capacity early. If you are attending, arriving early or walking from nearby residential areas is highly recommended.
- Be Mindful: Follow the directions of local law enforcement and event volunteers managing the “rolling” closures.
