Pedestrian Dies Weeks after Accident on Cement Drive and Blacktop Road

A 65-year-old man died on Sunday May 21st, weeks after being struck and severely injured by a vehicle on Cement Drive and Blacktop Road near Brasher’s Auto Auction on May 2nd.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 65-year-old Eric Miller of Rio Linda was walking southbound in a marked pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Cement Way and Blacktop Road when a motorist headed eastbound on Cement Drive began to turn left and struck Miller.

The impact of the pickup truck sent Miller backward onto the asphalt roadway. Paramedics quickly arrived and transported the injured pedestrian to a hospital for medical treatment. After three weeks of medical treatment in the hospital, Miller tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the driver and the cause of the fatal crash were not detailed in the report.
