Hit and Run and More!

Hit and Run and More!

This morning, shortly after 8am, a silver Chevrolet pickup truck ran the stop sign at 8th and M Street and collided with a USPS big rig on M Street just west of 8th Street, in front of Jimmy’s Donuts.

The driver of the Chevy truck immediately jumped out of the truck and ran away from the scene.

Per one account, the driver changed his shirt, but remained in the area. Per another account, someone from Tummy’s chased down the driver and brought him back to the scene.

Moments later, another vehicle came and picked up the driver.

Nearby community members sprang into action- two people jumped into their nearby vehicles and followed the hit and run driver. While following the person through Rio Linda, they were on the phone with the CHP.

Eventually, they all ended up at the WalMart on Antelope Road, where he was cornered by the two citizens. CHP arrived, and brought him back to the scene, where he was identified by another witness, and matched with photos taken earlier.

Per multiple witnesses, including the people who were picking up the community Christmas Tree just a block away, the driver of the Chevy truck was “impaired”.

People in this community have exhausted their patience with others who thumb their nose at traffic laws and continue to get away with it. Mark this down as a win for the good guys. I think this kind of thing is going to happen more often.
