A little after 8:30 p.m. on June 25, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Q Street in Rio Linda.

Deputies responded to the residence and located a 34-year-old male and female in the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and pronounced both subjects deceased at the scene. Deputies located three children ranging in ages from 3-15 years old inside the residence.

Deputies received information the husband and wife at the residence were in a verbal argument. The husband retrieved a handgun and shot his wife. After shooting his wife, he turned the gun on himself. Homicide detectives are on-scene and beginning their investigation.

The identities of the victim and suspect in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to their next of kin.
