Applications Now Open for the 2025 Rio Linda Elverta Honorary Mayor’s Race

RIO LINDA, CA – Get ready, Rio Linda! The annual Non-Profit Mayor’s Race is back, and the Rio Linda Chamber of Commerce is officially accepting candidate applications from now until May 30th, 2025. This cherished local event offers a unique and engaging way for community members to support area non-profits while vying for the honorary titles of Mayor or Junior Mayor.

The race itself will kick off on June 1st, igniting a summer of community spirit and fundraising.

Two Opportunities to Lead:

This year’s race features two categories, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate:

  • Honorary Mayor: Open to individuals aged 18 and older.
  • Honorary Junior Mayor: Welcoming youth participants under the age of 18.

Ready to Throw Your Hat in the Ring? Here’s How:

Aspiring candidates looking to make a difference and gain community recognition should meet the following requirements:

  • Entry Fee: A $100 entry fee is required per candidate.

Every Dollar Makes a Difference: How the Race Works

The premise is simple and impactful:

  • Votes for a Cause: Supporters can purchase tickets for $1 each, with every ticket counting as one vote for their chosen candidate.
  • Supporting Local Non-Profits: The real winners are Rio Linda’s non-profit organizations. A significant 75% of the proceeds from each candidate’s ticket sales will go directly to their designated non-profit.
  • Crowning the Winners: The candidate who garners the most votes in their respective category (Mayor or Junior Mayor) will earn the honorary title.

This friendly competition is designed to be a fun way for the community to rally together, where every dollar contributed creates a tangible impact on local initiatives. Whether you’re an emerging young leader eager to make your mark or a dedicated community advocate, this race provides a platform to get involved, raise crucial funds, and inspire your neighbors.

More Than a Title: The Benefits of Becoming a Candidate

Participating as a candidate in the Non-Profit Mayor’s Race offers numerous rewards beyond the honorary title. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Champion a Cause: Shine a spotlight on a non-profit organization and the vital work it does within the community.
  • Build Connections: Engage with fellow Rio Linda residents, businesses, and community leaders.
  • Create a Lasting Impact: Play a direct role in fundraising efforts that will benefit the local area.
