RIO LINDA, CA—The non-profit Boddie Family Boxing Academy is gearing up to serve the Rio Linda community both in and out of the ring this fall with two major events: a fun-filled family festival and an essential Thanksgiving Food Drive. The academy, known for its dedication to youth development and community engagement, is providing opportunities for local families to celebrate the harvest season and ensure neighbors have a holiday meal.

Harvest Fun at the 1st Annual Pumpkin and Spice Festival

Mark your calendars for the 1st Annual Pumpkin and Spice with everything nice Family Festival and Craft Faire, set to take place on November 15th and 16th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Rio Linda High School Cafeteria.

This two-day event, presented by Boddie Family Boxing, promises a festive weekend for all ages. Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including Pumpkin Painting, Apple Bobbing, and Face Painting. For those with a sweet tooth, there will be a Caramel Apple Bar and a S’mores Bar. The festival will also feature Live Music, Food, a Photo Booth, and a variety of Vendors selling hand-crafted gifts.

Organizers emphasize that all proceeds from the festival will benefit the Boddie Family Boxing non-profit, helping them continue their work in the community.

Vendor Information: Local entrepreneurs and crafters are invited to participate. Early bird pricing for a single space (available until November 1st) is $20. After that, one space is $30, and two spaces are $50 per day. Interested vendors can call 916-548-2535 for participation details.

Knocking Out Hunger: Thanksgiving Food Drive

In an effort to provide Thanksgiving meals to over 500 families in need, Boddie Family Boxing is also spearheading a Thanksgiving Food Drive. The academy’s motto for the drive is simple: “Because Everyone deserves to eat!”

The organization is requesting non-perishable canned foods, toiletries, TURKEYS, and HAMS.

Donations are needed now and can be dropped off at three community locations:

  • The Key Shop
  • Boddie Family Boxing gym
  • Our Craft Fair (presumably the November 15-16 event)

For those unable to make a drop-off, the academy is offering to pick up donations. For more information, to arrange a pick-up, or to learn more about the non-profit’s efforts, residents can call 916-548-2535 or email christinalgeer@gmail.com.

The Boddie Family Boxing Academy encourages all Rio Linda residents to participate in both the family festival and the food drive to support their mission and help strengthen the community this holiday season.
