Over this past weekend, multiple sideshows and pursuits took place in the Sacramento area. The CHP’s 2013 GippsAero GA8 (AIR-21) airplane went to work for the CHP, the Sacramento Police Department, and the Sacramento County Sheriff Department.
With the specialized camera system onboard, Air-21 is able to locate and follow suspects while updating patrol officers of their locations, as followers on the Rio Linda Messenger Facebook page well know.
This greatly enhances safety for both the public and officers involved.
Over the weekend, Air-21 assisted with:
- 2 pursuits with arrests
- 15 vehicles were impounded from sideshows
- 18 citations written
- 1 arrest for gun possession
- 1 DUI arrest
This includes a large sideshow on Del Paso Road near Highway 99 in Natomas.
