RIO LINDA, CA – Sacramento County Regional Parks is celebrating National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 27, 2025, by offering free entry to all of its parks. The day is designed to encourage community members to get outside, connect with nature, and participate in special volunteer activities.

Here’s a look at the events planned for the day:

BioBlitz Grab your phone, download the iNaturalist app, and help us discover and document plants, fungi, and wildlife throughout our parks. No experience is needed, and everyone is invited to join the fun.

Community Garden Workday at Gibson Ranch Get your hands dirty and help set up a new community garden! From 9 a.m. to noon, you can help work on a demonstration plot, create pathways, and spread mulch. No green thumb or registration is required to participate.

Volunteer Workday at the Cosumnes River Preserve Join in a fun-filled workday from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will help protect the preserve by planting native species and removing invasive ones. Tools, gloves, and a provided lunch will be available for all volunteers. Please note that registration is required for this event via Eventbrite.

Whether you want to hike, explore, volunteer, or simply spend some time outdoors, Saturday, September 27 is the perfect day to enjoy and give back to our public lands.
