Sacramento, CA – The Rio Linda Knights delivered a resounding statement on the road Friday night, dominating the El Camino Eagles with a massive 42-6 victory. After a difficult game versus Sutter, this high-scoring performance was a welcome and emphatic turnaround for the Knights’ offense, which had struggled to find the endzone just a week prior.

But while the offense put points on the board, it was the defense that truly controlled the game and earned this crucial Golden Empire League (GEL) win.
Interception Clinic Fuels Knights’ Success
The Knights’ defense was a constant headache for the El Camino quarterback, Aiden Daffron, showcasing lockdown coverage and excellent pressure throughout the contest. Rio Linda’s secondary feasted, collecting an astounding four interceptions before the final whistle.
Leading the charge was the versatile senior playmaker, Imara Bell, who tallied two interceptions of his own. Fellow defensive standouts Tyrone Cooper and Joseph Corey each snagged an interception as well, bottling up the Eagles’ passing attack and setting the offense up with phenomenal field position.
This defensive effort highlights a clear trend for the Knights: they are becoming road warriors. The victory over El Camino marks the team’s third consecutive win away from home. Over this three-game road stretch, the Knights’ defense has been stout, surrendering an average of just 10.7 points per game. This unit has proven it can travel and dominate.

Playoff Picture Brightens
The impressive win pushes the Varsity Knights’ season record back to an even 4-4 overall (2-2 in the GEL, based on league standings), keeping them squarely in the mix for a Sac-Joaquin Section playoff bid with just two regular-season games remaining. For El Camino, the loss drops their overall record to 2-6 as they struggle to find late-season momentum.
Next Up: Battle of the Wolves
The Knights will look to continue their winning ways this Friday as they face a tough challenge on the road against another league rival, the Woodland Wolves.
The Wolves, fresh off two straight victories, are a team building momentum, having increased their scoring output in each of their last three games. Rio Linda knows they must bring the same defensive intensity and offensive spark to Woodland if they want to secure a fourth straight road win and maintain their positioning in the competitive GEL race.
Kickoff for the Varsity Knights versus the Woodland Wolves is set for 7:00 p.m. this Friday.
Meanwhile, we wish the El Camino Eagles all the best, as they will also be on the road, facing the always tough Casa Roble Rams at 7:00 p.m.
