Knights Win at Center 23-22

The Rio Linda Knights busted out of their 0-2 slump to open the season, and defeated rival Center High School on Friday night, 23-22.

This game had a little bit of everything; Turnovers, defensive scoring, field goals, and lots and lots of muscle cramps. There was even a dislocated elbow on the Center side of things. Auntie said the parents took him to the ER, and he should be fine.

The most interesting dynamic was how the Knights came out on fire from play #1. There was a palpable purpose to their play. They swarmed to the ball on defense. Junior quarterback CJ Cook started this game and made a big difference in passing and leadership on the field.

The Center Cougars have started the season now 0-2, after an early season Week 2 bye.

The Knights face Foothill at home next week, who are on a 0-2 skid after getting spanked by Ponderosa yesterday, 25-7.
