As league play began on Friday night, the Knights showed they are a team to be reckoned with, putting together a decisive 33-12 victory over the Natomas Nighthawks.
Leading the charge for the Knights was Joseph Corey, who had a monster night on the ground. He rushed for an incredible 211 yards and scored two touchdowns, averaging a blistering 10 yards per carry. Thanks to his standout performance, Corey is now averaging 115 rushing yards per game this season.
It wasn’t just the offense that shined. The Knights’ defense was relentless, picking off the Natomas quarterback three times. CJ Cook and Louis Means each snagged an interception, with Cook turning his into a pick-six.
This win gives the Knights three in a row, brings Rio Linda’s record to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in Golden Empire League play. Natomas’ losing streak extends to seven games, dropping their record to 0-4 for 2025.
The Knights will get some time off with a bye week before their next big game. They’ll host the #14-ranked Casa Roble Rams (3-1) for Homecoming on October 3 at 7:30 p.m.
