Rio Linda, CA – Get ready for a fulfilling Saturday, May 17th, as the American Legion Post #521 at 6700 8th Street hosts two community events: a delicious Fish Fry followed by a solemn U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony.
Start with a Feast: Annual Fish Fry
Kicking off the afternoon, the Sons of the Rio Linda American Legion are hosting their popular Fish Fry from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. For just $20.00 per plate, attendees can enjoy a hearty meal of fish and chips, hushpuppies, onion rings, and cole slaw. It’s a perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family for a tasty meal while supporting the local American Legion. Tickets can be purchased at the Legion.
Honor Old Glory: U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony
Following the Fish Fry, at 7:30 PM, The American Legion #521 invites the entire community to a U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony. This respectful event provides an opportunity for the community to properly retire worn, faded, and tattered American flags with the honor they deserve.
The Sons of the American Legion, local firefighters, and patriotic citizens will lead the ceremony. Residents are encouraged to bring any old or unserviceable flags they may have for inclusion in the ceremony. “Bring an old flag and join us!” reads the invitation from the organizers.
A Day of Community Spirit
Both events will take place at the American Legion Hall located at 6700 8th Street in Rio Linda. Don’t miss out!
