Last night, Rio Linda celebrated a truly unforgettable National Night Out! The annual community-building campaign brought together residents, local law enforcement, and a host of fantastic organizations to strengthen neighborhood bonds and promote a safer, more connected community.
National Night Out is a nationwide event, and Rio Linda’s celebration was a shining example of its goals: to enhance the relationship between residents and law enforcement, foster a true sense of community, and bring everyone together for a positive and fun-filled evening.
Introduced in August 1984, National Night Out took root through a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, and civic organizations. The very first event saw 2.5 million neighbors in 400 communities across 23 states come together. What started as simple front porch vigils and symbolic gestures has since blossomed into a full-blown celebration, and last night’s event in Rio Linda was a perfect reflection of that evolution.
