Pastor Royer and those sinfully delicious holiday pies. The pickles ain’t bad either.

We received word today that the First Apostolic Church on Dry Creek Road, commonly known as the Royer family church, will not be selling pies this year as they have traditionally done in the past.

Mrs. Royer fell and broke her spine when she and the Pastor went back east to visit son Kenneth Royer.

She had a rough time in surgery, suffered kidney failure and lapsed into a coma. She is doing much better now, but is currently on dialysis and it may be months before she even can make the trip back home to Rio Linda.

You may remember that the church sits in a flood-prone plot just south of Dry Creek. The bake sales each year went toward paying the flood insurance on the property.

A GoFundMe is being discussed.
