On Saturday, September 19, 2020, the Vida de Oro Foundation will be giving away 300 Boxes filled with raw foods for needy families in the North Sacramento area.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Vida de Oro Foundation, a 501©(3) non-profit located in North Sacramento will be distributing 300 boxes filled with rice, beans, uncooked whole chicken, cooking oil, flour, milk, juice with a few other last minute items to families struggling during this pandemic.  Co-hosted by District 2 Councilman Alan Warren, the intent of the food boxes are to help families and a few local grocery stores struck hard economically because of COVID-19.

The Vida de Oro Foundation Board Members and staff had been planning on this giveaway for several weeks and were able to purchase the groceries through a Covid-19 grant made available by the City of Sacramento.   The boxes and transportation were donated by the U-HAUL Moving and Storage company also based in North Sacramento.

“We need to thank the numerous small businesses located in North Sacramento that stepped up to help out, including: Romo Realty Inc., Valley Health Options, North Sacramento Grocery Outlet, T&Y Grocery Store, Express Stop Market and City Councilmember Allen Warren,” says Mina Perez, President/CEO of the Vida de Oro Foundation.  “It’s not easy for these businesses to guess if they will stay open or for families to know where their next meal will come from during this Pandemic and ensuing financial hardships.”

Perez adds that the role of the Vida de Oro Foundation has changed to help meet the obligations of the North Sacramento community.
Because only 300 boxes will be distributed, interested parents must live in the 91615 and 91636 area codes, and need to either call (916-914-4623) or email (vida@vidadeoro.com) to reserve their food box in advance.  The actual distribution will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 11:30am to 2:30 pm at the Robertson Community Center, 3525 Norwood Avenue in North Sacramento.
