RIO LINDA, CA – The Rio Linda Business Watch meeting, held on April 8th at Rio Java Coffee House, brought together local business owners and law enforcement representatives to discuss issues impacting the community. While the agenda listed Supervisor Rodriguez and Forest Johnson, neither were able to attend. However, the meeting still proved productive with representatives from the District Attorney’s office, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, and Code Enforcement present to address concerns.

The meeting saw a strong turnout from local businesses, including LifePointe Church, Rio Java, Boddie Family Boxing Academy, Golden Rays Solar Cleaning, Knightwatch, The Grotto, and Rio Linda Dental.

The agenda, presented by Sacramento Ron Linthicum, a Community Prosecutor with the Sacramento County District Attorney, focused on several key areas:

  • Welcome & Introductions: Attendees had the opportunity to introduce themselves and their businesses, fostering connections within the community.
  • Business Concerns/Suggestions: This segment allowed business owners to voice their specific concerns and offer suggestions for improvement. While the exact nature of these concerns was not disclosed, this open dialogue is crucial for addressing local issues.
  • Agency Updates: Representatives from various agencies provided updates on their activities and initiatives.
    • District Attorney: While Heidi Brennan from the DA’s office was originally listed on the agenda, she was unable to attend. Ron Linthicum provided valuable information and answered questions from the audience.
    • Board of Supervisor’s Office: As mentioned, a representative from Supervisor Rodriguez office was not available.
    • Sheriff: The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department was represented, with information provided on:
      • Non-emergency numbers (916) 874-5115,
      • Homeless Outreach Team (NorthHOT@SacSheriff.com)
      • Problem Oriented Policing (NorthPOP@SacSheriff.com)
      • Letter of Agency (HOTLOA@SacSheriff.com)
      • Jim Hicks also discussed Crime Prevention (jahicks@SacSheriff.com)
    • CHP: The California Highway Patrol was represented, with their email listed as 250POP@chp.ca.gov.
    • Code Enforcement: A representative from Code Enforcement was present to address issues related to local ordinances and regulations.
  • Questions: The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, allowing attendees to ask specific questions of the agency representatives.

The Business Watch meetings serve as an important platform for communication and collaboration between local businesses and law enforcement. The discussions held at these meetings play a vital role in addressing community concerns and fostering a safe and thriving business environment in Rio Linda.

A change to a 10:30 AM start time will be implemented for future meetings.
