PG&E Replacing Rio Linda Gas Pipelines through October

Rio Linda/Elverta, CA – Residents in Rio Linda and Elverta will soon see some relief on their energy bills, thanks to the California Climate Credit. Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will automatically apply the credit to millions of customers’ April energy statements.

For those with active electric accounts, a credit of $58.23 will be applied. Customers with active gas accounts will receive a $67.03 credit. Those (in Sutter or Placer Counties) who receive both gas and electric service from PG&E will see a combined total of $125.26 credited to their April bill.

The California Climate Credit, funded by the state’s Cap-and-Trade Program, is designed to help residents transition to a more sustainable future. This program requires companies to pay for certain emissions, with revenue being used to improve public health, the environment, and benefit disadvantaged communities. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) directs PG&E to distribute these credits to customers.

“We understand that many in our Rio Linda and Elverta communities are feeling the strain of rising energy costs,” said Vincent Davis, PG&E senior vice president for customer experience. “We are committed to supporting bill relief for families and building a more climate-resilient future.”

Since 2014, PG&E residential customers across the state have received nearly $1,000 in Climate Credits on average, totaling over $12.9 billion in Cap-and-Trade Program benefits.

Additional Assistance Programs Available for Rio Linda and Elverta Residents:

For those in Rio Linda and Elverta facing financial hardship, PG&E offers several income-eligible assistance programs:

  • CARE (California Alternate Rates for Energy): Provides a monthly discount of 20% or more on gas and electricity bills.
  • FERA (Family Electric Rate Assistance): Offers a monthly 18% discount on electricity for households of three or more.
  • ESA (Energy Savings Assistance): Provides free energy-saving improvements to eligible homes.
  • REACH (Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help): Offers a one-time energy credit of up to $300 for income-eligible customers with past-due balances.
  • AMP (Arrearage Management Plan): Provides debt forgiveness for eligible residential customers.
  • Medical Baseline: Offers reduced energy bills for customers with specific medical needs.

PG&E encourages Rio Linda and Elverta residents to explore additional ways to save energy and reduce monthly bills on pge.com for more information.

This credit offers a welcome reprieve for many in our community, and PG&E’s additional programs provide further support for those who need it most.
