Rio Linda Librarian Sally McGrath is Moving Onward and Upward

I caught up with our long-time Rio Linda Library Branch Supervisor Sally McGrath yesterday at the Farmer’s Market and asked her about a nasty little rumor I had heard; That Miss Sally will be leaving us shortly.

“Yes, I will be transferring to another branch of the Sacramento Public Library. I am going to the South Natomas Library. I’m really looking forward to it… but I had to think long and hard about it!”

Miss Sally tells us that her transfer is a bit of a promotion and there will be more responsibility for her at the larger branch in Natomas.

“I had to think long and hard because Rio Linda is unique. People are so jealous when they come to Rio Linda and see our library and everything surrounding it… even the building. The library building is absolutely beautiful. All the public art we have here and the hitching post and the farmers market just down the street… It’s a lot to leave.”

There will still be farmer friends and vegetables and eggs to gather in Rio Linda, so Miss Sally will be back often. She’s committed to come visit us on Farms and Tractor Days and the Country Faire as well.

The new Branch Supervisor in Rio Linda will be Michelle Brown. She is currently supervising the Arcade branch, and originally comes from the Roseville Public Library. Ms. Brown chose to come to Rio Linda and loves our area. She raises chickens, as I understand, and has come to the Rio Linda Branch on her off-hours to browse the seed library which is unique to our community.

Sally McGrath’s last day at the Rio Linda Library will be Friday, June 17th, and on June 18th she will be installed at the South Natomas Public Library.

She will most definitely be missed.
