Rio Linda Mourns the Passing of Gary Gene Meyer, 70

Rio Linda lost a beloved resident, Gary Gene Meyer, 70, who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday evening, February 23, 2025, surrounded by his family.

A lifelong Rio Linda presence, Gary graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1973, leaving behind a legacy of community connection. Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1954, he moved to Sacramento in 1958 and then to Rio Linda in 1968, where he truly made his home.

Gary dedicated his career to A-1 Metals, beginning at the age of 17 and rising to the position of Manager before his retirement in 2016. He also contributed to Elkhorn Bait and Tackle and A-1 Coin under the same ownership.

Gary’s life was rich with family and passions. He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Dominique; his daughters Sheri, Sandi (Angela), and Tammi (Josh) with their mother Wanda; his cherished granddaughters Aubri and Alyssa; his step-son Michael (Sara) and step-granddaughter Zoè; his brother Robert (Donna) and sister Susan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, pets, and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Betty, and his siblings Charlotte, Roger, and Mark.

Known for his quick wit and generous spirit, Gary found joy in a variety of activities. He was a dedicated supporter of his daughters’ and granddaughters’ sporting endeavors, particularly softball. He enjoyed gambling, card games such as cribbage, hearts, and poker, fishing, camping, golf, painting, gardening, and yard work. Above all, family was the cornerstone of his life.

Gary’s warm presence and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him in the Rio Linda community and beyond.
