The Camera Registry Program

The program asks residents and business owners to voluntarily register the location of their security cameras with the Sheriff’s Office. Crucially, this does not give the Sheriff’s Office live access to your camera feed. Instead, it creates an interactive map accessible only to law enforcement, which helps investigators quickly identify potential sources of video evidence if a crime occurs in the area. If a crime takes place near a registered camera, the Sheriff’s Office can contact the owner and request specific footage. This streamlined process eliminates the time-consuming effort of going door-to-door to find witnesses or video evidence, allowing for faster and more efficient investigations.
The FususCONNECT Donor Site Initiative
For those who want to take their partnership with law enforcement a step further, the FususCONNECT Donor Site Initiative offers a more integrated solution. This program allows participants to share live video feeds with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, but only in the event of an emergency. The program uses a technology called FususCORE which creates a secure, separate tunnel for transmitting video alerts to law enforcement. This conditional access is based on a mutual agreement, and the goal is to provide deputies with real-time situational awareness during a crime or emergency, helping them respond more effectively and safely.
