Woman sentenced in stolen fire engine chase

A woman has been sentenced to prison for stealing Sac Metro Fire Engine #111 and leading police on a chase through four counties before being arrested in Butte County.

According to court documents, Candice Scollard, 35, of Quincy was sentenced Thursday in Butte County Superior Court to four years, eight months in state prison in connection with the episode that happened July 14.

Scollard had pleaded no contest in August to special vehicle theft and evading a peace officer while driving recklessly, according to the documents.

Scollard remained in custody.

Scollard’s co-defendant in the case, David Carcalete, 29, of North Highlands, pleaded no contest Sept. 20 to special vehicle theft and resisting arrest.

Carcalete faces up to four years in county prison and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 18.

A judge ordered victim restitution to the fire district totaling more than $112,000.
