Obituary: Marion Frances Leonhardt

Marion Frances Leonhardt

August 22nd, 1928 – August 18th, 2024

Marion Frances Leonhardt passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2024. She was a remarkable woman who blessed this world for nearly 96 years. Born on August 22nd, 1928, Marion lived a life filled with love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family.

Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Jacob Leonhardt Jr., with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage—a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a life rooted in love and devotion, creating a legacy that lives on in their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Norman Leonhardt, whose memory she cherished deeply.

Marion is survived by her son, David Leonhardt, who carries forward the values she instilled in him—values of strength, kindness, and the importance of family. Her granddaughters Amanda (Bud) and Amber (Andrew), grandsons Kevin, Vincent, and Jonathan (Annie), and her great-grandchildren Tessa, Jaidynne, Madilynne, Zoe, Sophia, Raelynn, David, Brody, Gavin, Andrew, and Levi were the pride and joy of her life. Each one of them held a special place in her heart, and she took great joy in watching them grow, learn, and thrive.

In her life, Marion found joy in the simple things—tending to her garden, where she nurtured life and beauty, and enjoying the thrill of bingo, where her competitive spirit and love for fun shone through. But perhaps one of her greatest joys was the weekly family dinner nights, where all her loved ones gathered around her table. These dinners were more than just meals; they were a celebration of togetherness, love, and the bonds that held the family close.

Marion was a woman who believed in moving forward in life. She understood that while you can’t forget the difficult times, you can learn from them and keep going. This resilience was a defining feature of her character, and it’s a lesson she imparted to all who knew her. She taught us that life is a journey, and it’s important to keep moving forward, no matter what challenges we face.

As we say goodbye to Marion, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the love, wisdom, and strength she shared with us all. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the memories we hold dear.

Rest in peace, Marion. Your love and light will continue to guide us, just as it always has.
