Aftershock Brings Millions in Economic Impact, Charitable Giving

With a spend well over $1 million with local businesses, and an economic impact to the community that exceeds $10 million, this weekend’s Monster Energy Aftershock music festival at Discovery Park has made an additional impact on the Sacramento community with an announced $10,000 charitable donation to Stanford Settlement in Natomas.

“Giving back to the community is a high priority for us and we’re always looking for ways to engage in local causes,” says Danny Hayes, CEO of Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP), producers of Monster Energy Aftershock. “Stanford Settlement is doing great work with youth and others in the neighborhoods around Discovery Park and we’re happy to be able to contribute to their efforts.”

New for 2016, Monster Energy Aftershock has embraced Sacramento as America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital and will distribute local produce to festival attendees on both days of the event. Working closely with Sacramento distributor Produce Express, Monster Energy Aftershock has sourced produce from Stillwater Orchards in Courtland, Larson’s Apple Barn in Apple Hill, and Windmill Vineyards in Woodland; the produce will be distributed to festival attendees free of charge.

“More than half of Aftershock’s audience comes from outside of Sacramento and we’re thrilled that those visitors will be exposed the abundance of fresh food that’s grown in this region,” says Mike Testa, COO of Visit Sacramento. “When you look at the thousands of hotel rooms generated, the $1 million plus spend on local businesses, and the charitable contribution that DWP donates to this market, it’s easy to understand why Monster Energy Aftershock is Sacramento’s most valuable music festival.”

Recognized as California’s biggest rock festival, the fifth annual Monster Energy Aftershock is led by iconic bands Tool (in a rare U.S. festival appearance) and Avenged Sevenfold. The festival boasts a lineup of 35 bands on three stages plus the Juxtapoz Make Your Mark Graffiti Zone, and more onsite experiences that are designed to engage fans with all aspects of the rock and roll culture.

Monster Energy Aftershock is produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, a producer of some of the biggest rock festivals in America, including Rock On The Range, Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville, Monster Energy Fort Rock, Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, Louder Than Life, Northern Invasion, Monster Energy Rock Allegiance, Chicago Open Air, and more. In February of last year Danny Wimmer Presents announced that it had received funding from the United Auburn Indian Community, operator of the Thunder Valley Casino and Resort.
