Arrest Made in Homicide on Georgia Drive

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence on Georgia Drive in North Highlands. The disturbance involved approximately 30 individuals and was believed to include gunfire.

Upon reaching the scene, deputies engaged with several individuals who disclosed that a male victim had sustained gunshot wounds but had already been transported to a nearby hospital by acquaintances.

Further investigation revealed that the victim, a 33-year-old adult male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were promptly dispatched to the location to conduct interviews with witnesses and collect evidence.

Subsequent findings from the investigation indicated that the victim and his girlfriend were embroiled in a dispute with her ex-boyfriend, identified as 30-year-old Jarell Triplett, pertaining to child custody matters. In the course of the altercation, Triplett allegedly shot the victim and fled the scene.

At approximately 10 AM, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau successfully apprehended Triplett in the Sacramento area without any untoward incident. Triplett was subsequently booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is currently being held without bail.
