Homicide at 16th and E Streets in Rio Linda

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a homicide at 16th and E Streets in Rio Linda after a man was shot to death early Sunday morning.

A little after 2 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call saying there was a shooting victim at 1504 E Street.

Upon arrival, deputies the victim was found unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies began chest compressions but were unsuccessful. Metro Fire arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Reports say the house at this address has been abandoned.

The victim was identified as a 41-year-old male. The name of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner once positive identification has been made.
