SACRAMENTO HOUSING AUTHORITY TO OPEN WAIT LIST FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED PUBLIC HOUSING

Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento City and County Housing Authority will open the wait list for elderly/disabled public housing on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 12:01 a.m. This wait list is for one bedroom public housing units throughout the City of Sacramento. The wait list will remain open until 1,200 eligible elderly/disabled applicants have applied.

Applications can be submitted online at www.sacwaitlist.com using any device with Internet access, including iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices. To access the application on the Internet, type www.sacwaitlist.com into the address bar at the top of the web page in your browser. To make sure that you are using the SHRA verified wait list application website, do not apply on any other website and do not use a search engine like Google, Yahoo!, etc. to find the SHRA public housing application website. There is no fee to apply and a credit report is not necessary to complete the application.

Wait list preferences are given to families that are homeless or rent burdened, have a family member who is a veteran, have a family member who is disabled, or live or work in Sacramento county.

Additionally, on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., the Housing Authority will close the wait lists for Twin Rivers (all bedroom sizes), Saybrook (all bedroom sizes), and Downtown Elderly.

The Housing Authority of the City and County of Sacramento’s housing programs serve very low income families and individuals. Eligible families will receive rental assistance as funds are available. The Housing Authority conducts fingerprint criminal background checks on all adults applying for housing.

There is no cost to apply for housing and a credit report is not needed to apply. Applicants are cautioned not to use any other website to apply for the wait list. A number of websites charge fees to submit an application and may require personal information such as social security numbers or debit/credit card information. This is a scam and could lead to possible identity theft. Housing Authority officials advise that the best way to find the correct website to fill out the application is to type www.sacwaitlist.com directly into the website address bar usually located at the top left of the browser on the computer screen.
