September is National Recovery Month

Each September, National Recovery Month takes place to increase awareness and educate people about how substance use and mental health services can help people and their families to live healthy and rewarding lives.

Kicking off with the 29th annual Recovery Happens event on Sep.1, National Recovery Month shares the message of hope through treatment and recovery. All month long, Sacramento County Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Services celebrates the fact that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.

“National Recovery Month promotes treatment and recovery, recognizes the strength and resilience of people living in recovery, and acknowledges service providers and community members who make recovery in all its forms possible.”

Ryan Quist, Behavioral Health Director, Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health Services.

The 2021 National Recovery Month theme, “Recovery is for Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community,” reminds people in recovery and those who support them that no one is alone in the journey. Recovery belongs to all of us.
